NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAMS

NYX is fast becoming one of my favourite beauty brands. For the last few years I'd had to admire the affordable quality from across the pond but since NYX has become available in the UK I've been slowly working my way through the greatest hits. It's taken me a while to get to the famous Soft Matte Lip Creams - I'm always wary of hyped-up products because they never seem to live up to their expectations but I'm pretty impressed with these.

I'm definitely a matte liquid lipstick kind of gal. They satisfy my need for lazy, low maintenance products that I can swipe on at 9am and know they will stay put for the rest of the day. However, they tend to suck all the moisture from my lips and make them look like a butthole (we've all been there). The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are the perfect solution. The formula is light, creamy and kind of moussey (?) which means they apply smooth and matte but don't dry down completely like a liquid lipstick. This means you get a matte lip with decent staying power without the uncomfortable dryness.

I picked up three shades which, believe it or not, was me restraining myself. The shade range for these is huge and I could have easily come away with about twenty. London is a pale brown-nude, pretty similar to Kat Von D's Bow n Arrow but different enough that I definitely need both. For me, this is a solid everyday nude shade. Rome is rosy/mauvey/browny - not usually the sort of colour I go for (I tend to avoid anything vaguely pink-toned)  but for some reason this appealed to me and I'm loving it. I was hoping Copenhagen would be a dark, vampy purple but it comes up much lighter and more berry-toned in real life. This one is also pretty patchy compared to the other two and takes a couple of layers to get an even colour.

That said, these products definitely live up to the hype and I can't wait to buy many, many more.

Thanks for reading, Lucy x

  1. I love the Soft Matte Lip Creams as I don't find them too drying. I have quite a few of the lighter, nude shades and have been so impressed. x

    1. They're so comfortable to wear! I definitely think the lighter, nude shades are the way to go. The darker ones seems to be a bit patchy x
