HOW TO DE-POT MAC EYESHADOWS

A couple of months ago two of my wonderful friends (Ellie and Georgie, I'm looking at you) bought me a fifteen-pan MAC eyeshadow palette for my birthday. I had a few MAC eyeshadows in the little pots and assumed it would be pretty straightforward to pop them in the palette. But it turned out a bit more complicated than I thought it would be so today I'm going to show you how I did it.

You will need...
  • A blunt knife
  • A candle
  • A pair of tweezers
  • A cocktail stick
  • Some MAC eyeshadows and a palette (obvs)

1. First you need to get a blunt knife or something of a similar shape and wedge it in the little gap at the front of the eyeshadow pot. Sometimes it's easier to use a fingernail to open up the gap first and then slide the knife under. Give it a wiggle up and down until the plastic pan with the eyeshadow pan in pops out.

2. Use a pair of tweezers to hold the plastic pan over the candle flame for 10-15 seconds until a hole appears in the bottom like in the picture above. Make sure you keep checking it to ensure only the bottom of the plastic is burnt and not the metal pan. Then take a cocktail stick or anything else that will fit in the hole (as long as it's not too sharp so it won't pierce the metal) and use it to push out the metal pan through the hole in the plastic.

3. Using the tweezers again, hold the eyeshadow pot over the flame with the sticker facing down for 5-10 seconds. This will heat up the glue on the sticker so it will peel away easily and you can stick it on the back of the metal pan and know which colour is which. Then just pop the pan into the palette.

I'm hoping that wasn't too hard to follow because I always feel like I'm crap at giving instructions so if anything isn't clear enough then let me know in the comments and I'll try and help. I hope a few of you found this helpful, or perhaps bookmarked it if you think it might be helpful in the future and you're feeling wild.

Thanks for reading, Lucy x
